New York State Broadband Program

ECC Technologies was selected to complete a State-Wide Broadband Mapping Program for New York.

ISSUE

The New York State Department of Public Service (DPS), in accordance with the New York State Comprehensive Broadband Connectivity Act of May 26, 2021, engaged Penfield, NY-based ECC Technologies, Inc. (ECC) to complete a comprehensive broadband-focused project in New York State.

SOLUTION

We utilized our specialized OSP Inventory process, the BAAT survey program, mapping strategies developed by our in-house staff, service provider participation, municipal cooperation, regional COG’s outreach, and other statewide organizations to complete the project.

OUTCOME

We mapped, to the address level and extent possible, Broadband infrastructure and services within New York State. High-speed Broadband was defined as Internet service capable of at least 100mbps/10mbps. We engaged over 60 service providers operating within all 62 Counties of the State. We field verified and documented over 80,000 miles in OSP Inventory. We overlayed FCC data, service provider data, OSP inventory data, and BAAT data in a GIS database to give an accurate picture of the State. The result is an interactive, address-level, publicly available map. Click the link below to check it out!
