Electric Membership Cooperatives

Since 2017, ECC has provided Electric Cooperatives with a variety of services related to internal network development and design, financial analysis, and full construction services (See Piedmont Electric Membership Cooperative for an example).

ISSUES

Electric cooperatives such as Cowetta – Fayette, Flint Energies, Lumbee River EMC, EnergyUnited, and more have relied on ECC to evaluate key issues facing their cooperatives.  Operational and financial issues include Internal network requirements, support for advanced metering and downstream devices, expansion into broadband, advanced SCADA interfaces, and more.

SOLUTION

Our team spent significant time with board members, cooperative management, front-line crews, and member-owners to better understand issues and concerns.  ECC developed real-world pragmatic solutions for Cooperatives based on their unique requirements.

  • Design, development, and deployment of an internal fiber-based network

  • Integration of fixed wireless infrastructure to complement fiber backbone for last-mile solutions

  • Development of FTTH strategies for cooperatives

  • Demand analysis for broadband and smart grid devices within service territories

  • Developing winning strategies for Federal and state grants

OUTCOME

Our work helped each of our clients make informed business decisions taking into account financial and operational constraints identified by ECC.  Our focus on risk mitigation and project optimization ensured each client has information that is actionable, relevant, and credible to support strategic and capital decision-making.
